Current United Kingdom Health Care Policy for Elderly
Since 1948, the NHS has been coordinating the health care policy for the United Kingdom.
The goal was to provide health care access to all irrespective of the ability to pay. By its own measurements, the NHS covers 1 million patients every 36 hours).
These are the five domains of NHS Outcomes Framework:
- Preventing premature death
- Enhancing quality of life
- Rehabilitating patients
- Improving the experience of people in the system
- Treating people in a safe environment.
After a patient sees a GP, he is transferred to a secondary provider (SP). The Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) coordinates, plans and purchases the medical care from the SP. The UK Parliament is considering health care reforms.
